School-Related Activities:

  • COMPREHENSIVE AOD EDUCATION MODEL

    • Identify key AOD prevention partners.

    • Identify school and community AOD activities and gaps.

    • Conduct workshop on effective comprehensive AOD education models during DAW.

    • Establish an AOD Comprehensive Education Model task force.

  • BECOMING YOUR BEST: LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS

    • The activity goal is to enhance the development of life skills and to raise awareness of issues related to alcohol and drug use.

    • The program will promote positive and healthy lifestyle choices through the development and enhancement of communication skills, goal-setting skills, problem-solving skills, positive risk-taking, assertiveness skills, stress management skills, and the discussion AOD issues and related community resources.

  • P.A.D.’s (Parents Against Drugs) Challenges, Beliefs, Choices Program

    • A peer-led training and education program, where senior secondary school students learn facts on alcohol and other drugs as well as group facilitation, problem-solving and communication skills. Trained students become peer facilitators for grade 8 students to discuss issues around alcohol and other drugs.

  • Party Smart Stay Safe Program 

    • Harm reduction program for senior secondary school students promoting safe partying and educating students on liability issues.

  • Magic Program

    • Develop a magic show program based on grade 5 AOD prevention curriculum and model programs (based on concept of Just Say Moe smoking prevention program targeting grade 4 students).

  • Programming for Parents

    • Make connections with school councils and offer assistance with AOD education, parenting education, and create an awareness of existing AOD prevention activities for youth.

    • Assess need for parent resources and assist in the collection/development and dissemination of these resources.

    • Act as a resource for any parent groups doing AOD activities.

Seniors-Related Activities:

  • Seniors Pharmacist Presentations

  • Seniors Health Fairs

  • Seniors Theatre

Community-Related Activities:

  • Ultimate Mix Contest

    • Youth create mocktails and safe-sober messages for partying.

  • Summer AOD Prevention and Injury Prevention Activities

    • Create a variety of AOD presentations and skill building workshops which they will then deliver to summer day camps, family resource centres and youth groups.

    • Partner with existing summer safety campaigns related to AOD injury prevention.

  • After School Kids Club

    • Provide after school skill development, education and awareness programming for 7 – 14 year old children.

  • Community Summer Festival

    • Coordinate with community partners a summer festival to provide information about community resources, to provide families with interactive fun activities.

  • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Fetal Alcohol Effect prevention activities 

  • Safer Downtown/Bars Initiative

    • Expand existing working group to include more business interests (bars, BIA, Casino, hotels).

    • Create materials to be distributed at identified locations.

    • Distribute created informational materials to identified locations.

    • Lobby City of Windsor to include Safer Bars Workshop by CAMH and OTEC as a requirement for license renewal.

    • Assess feasibility and if feasible deliver liability workshops to bar owners. 

  • Drug Awareness Week Activities

    • Partner with local drug awareness week committee to assist in the planning and delivery of DAW activities.

  • Alcohol Policy Development for Bars, Hotels and Service Clubs

  • Workplace Policy Assessment
