Kids Alliance of Windsor in partnership
with the St. Louis School Youth Council
kick off Earth Month with a CLEAN SWEEP
At Seacliff Park (off Seacliff Drive in Leamington)
Saturday, March 25, 2006  10:00 am – 1:00 pm

WINDSOR – Area youth will team-up this coming Saturday at Seacliff Park in Leamington to launch a park clean-up effort.
The St. Louis Kids Alliance Youth Council will be hosting a park clean-up on March 25 beginning at 10 am.  Participants will enjoy a complimentary barbeque from 12 noon to 1 pm.
“Kids Alliance is setting a great example for local youth,” remarks Joe Parent, Kids Alliance facilitator. “The youth council members are very excited to get an early start with their contribution to Earth month.”
Kids Alliance is a program for youth empowerment that operates under the Teen Health Centre. The program is a youth-directed initiative where students form youth councils and organize events ranging from neighbourhood beautification to safety seminars to community projects such as this weekend’s park clean-up.  Youth councils are organized within nine participating elementary schools and are made up of grade seven and eight students as well as alumni who continue to join the group.  The key with Kids Alliance is that it’s the kids who determine what issues need attention and how to go about dealing with them.  Most of their solutions involve events that get communities working together.  Community care initiatives like this week’s Park Clean-Up promote kids taking ownership of their neighbourhoods.

Come out and help Kids Alliance wrap up their Clean Sweep Week!
