Ways to Feel Better

When you feel depressed you may not want to do anything, but everyone has activities that make he or she feel better. Believe it or not, you can have some control over your moods. Any one of these activities may not be enough but it is a place to start. Here are some examples. You may want to keep a copy of this list or add some of your ideas so that you can take it out and look at it when you are feeling down.

  • Talk to someone

  • Watch TV or your favourite video

  • Writing

  • Reading

  • Going to the park

  • Shopping

  • Being with friends

  • Soaking in the tub

  • Look through happy photographs

  • Getting a haircut

  • Using the computer/internet

  • Being alone (+/-)

  • Blow bubbles

  • Listening to music (+/-)

  • Working (+/-)

  • Taking a road trip

  • Singing

  • Do something silly (skip, finger paint, play on a swing)

  • Eating (+/-)

  • Quit smoking/doing drugs

  • Working out

  • Doing well on a test

  • Talking on the phone

  • Raising your grades

  • Go for a walk

  • Play with a pet

  • Breathe

  • Play video games

  • Watch or play sports

  • Add your own ideas
