Former Much Music VJ to visit LaSalle high school

October 11, 2005

LASALLE – Local high school students will be hosting a Canadian entertainment reporter on Wednesday, October 12.

Rick Campanelli, former MuchMusic VJ and current lead reporter with Entertainment Tonight Canada, will be speaking to St. Thomas of Villanova students on Wednesday, October 12 beginning at 1:15 p.m.

Campanelli’s speaking engagement is part of RBC Teen Health Month, an initiative of the local Teen Health Centre focused on promoting healthy choices to teens and informing the community about youth issues.

The theme of Campanelli’s talk will be “following your dreams” and will include the body, mind and spirit theme so evident in the work of the Teen Health Centre.

Campanelli was a long time VJ on Canada’s music station and known as “Rick the Temp”. He burst onto the music television scene in 1996 and immediately began to build the strong audience rapport that has since become his trademark.

The Teen Health Centre currently has over 17,000 active clients and provides services such as a full medical clinic, counseling, anger management, self esteem groups, pre and post natal classes, eating disorder counseling and substance abuse prevention.
