Renowned author brings Windsor parents helpful advice Friday, October 14, 2005
WINDSOR – Local parents of teenagers looking for helpful parenting tips can visit the Caboto Club on the evening of Monday, October 17. Dr. Michael Bradley, renowned American author on parenting teens, will be presenting his parenting advice as part of the RBC Teen Health Month initiative presented by the local Teen Health Centre. Dr. Bradley is the author of the book “Yes, Your Teen is Crazy! – Loving Your Kid Without Losing Your Mind” which has been recognized by the Parents’ Choice and the National Parenting Centre in the United States. Dr. Bradley, a licensed psychologist specializing in working with adolescents and their families, offers parents his “Ten Commandments of Parenting Adolescents”. Some of these rules include: thou shalt listen even as thine own child shouts, thou shalt vanquish they foolish pride and thou shalt add 15 minutes to every interaction involving thy teen. He has spoken to thousands of parents throughout the world and was honored with the William Penn Human Rights Award for a national demonstration projected he created which proved that teenagers with deficits such as drugs, truancy and aggression can be turned around with compassionate, respect-based treatment.
