What is a Panic Attack

A panic attack is a period of severe anxiety usually caused by feeling of being unsafe or not being able to leave a situation. You may have experienced a panic attack if you have had at least four or more of the following at the same time:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart palpitations
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Sweating
  • Choking
  • Nausea or stomach pains
  • Numbness
  • Dizziness or unsteadiness
  • Feeling of detachment or being out of touch with yourself
  • Hot flashes or chills
  • Fear of dying
  • Fear of going crazy or out of control
